Year 12 students apply for university entrance through their local Tertiary Admissions Centre. In many states the same process is used to apply for both university and full time TAFE diploma level courses. It is always best to check with the training provider that you intend to study with about their particular application process.

Find out more

To find out more about the course you are interested in you can search the myfuture course and program database. There you will find information on the training provider, the qualification, the fees, subjects, entry requirements, related occupations and more.

To apply for a university or VET course find out more from your local Tertiary Admissions Centre.

Tertiary Admissions Centre websites:

www.uac.edu.au (NSW/ACT)
www.vtac.edu.au (VIC)
www.qtac.edu.au (QLD)
www.tisc.edu.au (WA)
www.satac.edu.au (SA)
www.cdu.edu.au (NT)
www.utas.edu.au (TAS)

It is also always best to contact the training provider directly to ensure you understand the application process and any special requirements. Ultimately the training provider has the final say on the application process. Remember that some courses require you to apply directly to the education provider rather than through a tertiary admissions process.

A useful publication with information about every university in Australia is the Australian University Handbook 2007 published by Universities Australia (formerly the Australian Vice Chancellors’ Committee).
